They say that condoms are approximately 98% safe for preventing pregnancy, and I suppose the same thing goes for STDs, except of course there are some STDs like crabs that condoms don’t really work against. In any case, condoms are really your best bet. In order to be very safe (although you can never be 100% safe unless you abstain from sex), combine condoms with oral contraception (for girls) and make sure your partner is healthy and reliable.
